Our Wedding

Our story began in July 2020. In the middle of a worldwide pandemic, something special unexpectedly began!‎Our paths first crossed in Sudbury - my (Emily's) hometown and long-term stomping grounds. While Jacob was born and raised in Toronto, he eventually made his way north to Blind River and then to Sudbury for college.‎Our shared love for the creative world drew us together, after I stumbled across Jacob's photography page. Not long after, we met for our first date at Moonlight Beach, followed by burritos on the patio at Tuco’s. We bonded over art, music, and a lot of laughter. That day also marked Jacob witnessing one of my truly exceptional sunburns—the first of many to come...‎From there, life took us all over Ontario and far beyond. Through midwifery school, Jacob never hesitated to make the drive to be together - from Hamilton, to Bracebridge, and Thunder Bay. Distance became a constant in our relationship, but it never felt like a barrier. Our love isn’t limited by geography and living apart only deepened our appreciation for every moment we spent together.‎At every chance, we took our spirits of adventure on the road, travelling across North America. We camped on the roof of our car and woke up to new places every morning. It was on one of these East Coast adventures, at Cap d’Or in Nova Scotia, that Jacob proposed.‎Now, we’ve planted our roots in Sault Ste. Marie and created a home that feels deeply and unmistakably ours. Days are often spent outside—sitting at our picnic table, walking the neighbourhood, or picking apples side by side—finding meaning in the rhythms of everyday life.

Wedding Party

We invite you to dress up and have fun with it!Think elevated garden party—any length of dress is welcome, and colours and patterns are very much encouraged. Suits or dress pants with a button-down are perfect; ties and jackets are welcome but optional.As our celebration will take place outdoors on grass and gravel, we recommend leaving stilettos at home. Wedges, chunky heels, flats, or dressy sandals will be much more comfortable and practical.

Will the wedding be held outdoors?

Yes, our wedding will be held outdoors - rain or shine! We recommend wearing sunscreen and bringing an umbrella (just in case). The ceremony and reception are on the same property—the ceremony takes place down a short path through the forest. There will be party tents set-up for the reception in the case of rain.

Parking

Parking on-site is very limited, so we recommended car-pooling with other guests. There will also be a shuttle bus to pick up guests from the 3 hotels listed in the "Accommodations" tab. There will be 1 pick-up time and 2 drop-off times in the evening.
